It is all but officially confirmed, the Apple iPhone 3GS will be available in Saudi Arabia officially by Mobily.
Etisalat and du in UAE are taking pre-orders for the iPhone 3GS. Du made a deal with Axiom, which is odd considering that Axiom is decieving Mobily and Apple in Saudi Arabia.
I will keep you updated with what’s going to happen regarding the Saudi iPhone 3GS on SaudiMac and the Arabic edition سعودي ماك.

it can be concluded logically: du announced that they will release it october 27th. Etisalat and Mobily are EXTREMELY QUIET about the release date. Etisalat and Mobily are acting stupidly regarding the iPhone.

as far as I know, Mobily is out of stock of iPhone 3G.
Du is launching it on 27th that is correct as well as Mobily, the deal as i have learend . Du will launch it first in UAE and Mobily at the same time. Etislat will launch some times after Du .
Axium in Saudi did a very big mistake by selling AT&T 3GS and claims that it is official unlokced. ( cheating customers).
Du sells the iPhone 3gs 32Gb for 2869 Dirhams.

As for Axiom, it’s a stupid company. Anything you buy from Axiom in UAE will not be covered by warranty in Saudi Arabia!!
Etisalat have big stock 8G-16G and they are trying to clear stock now at Gitex show Dubai. Any way apple did play the game right and sold them huge number of 3G on the first deal. The main point many have bought 3GS back in September including my self so this 3gs is an old product now

Etisalat released the iPhone 3GS today because DU has announced this date first. Etisalat did not announce any bundles. so I can conclude that Etisalat was rushed to release because of the competition.
Since there is no iPhone 3GS competition for Mobily here, they are taking their time…

i tried to register using the STC no. every thing goes smooth. i got the verification email
BUT
no sms of the booking code.
i then tried usign Mobily # and when i clicked the link in the mail, i was redirected to a mobily page saying Verified.
and i got the sms instantly…!
so use a Mobily no while making the booking.
the problem is, i dont have any mobily # and all of my friends are in STC also… i guess i will just try again the booking….
since it is Nov 01 already, i think they will not release it now… maybe after two weeks again…. or next month or(the coming months as told by mobily)… hahaha…

red, yes you are supposed to get an order number once you click on the email link. However, it does take time. I received mine 5 hours after making the booking so you may have to wait a while.

I’ve confirmed with a friend who has also made the booking using his STC mobile. No luck in getting the order number as well. I guess, only people with Mobily account/number can get the order number via sms at the moment (not that it’s making any difference since mobily will probably launc in Soon(TM), in the coming months(TM), never(TM) from a company whose motto is “I dunno (TM)”

actually most of us knows (we can assume, most probably right) that it is already in mobily, they just dont want to release it yet…. and since they are like bargaining the 16gb for free delivery, the 3gs will be released soon enough…

Here is what I heard: Mobily’s iPhone 3GS ordering system got messed up, it started to send duplicate order numbers to customers. So they panicked and returned the site to an early 2009 version.
Notice the iPhone 3G in that screen doesn’t have a voice recorder, it is running software 2.0 not 3.0 which was released in June.

The only reason that Etisalat released the iPhone 3GS yesterday was to compete with du. Du announced the release date first and Etisalat simply followed them.
Because of that Etisalat never managed to get their bundles pricing approved by TRA (it’s like our CITC).
What’s more interesting is that Du just announced a deal with Vodafone:
